How aerial modeling is used -
Drone modeling creates an exact duplicate, or computerized reflection, of the project site with every flight. The digital image can then be used to determine construction progress within all project stages. This process decreases project cost and improves productivity, helping developers avoid pricey overflows and deadline delays.
Benefits of aerial modeling -
Measure stockpile volumes: Stockpile inventory management is one of the leading uses for drone modeling. Using drones, Project Managers can tell exactly how much material is available, what’s been moved since the last visual analysis, and what still needs to be extracted.
Improved worksite safety: Drones can fly over hazardous terrain and calculate height, slope, and volume without the need for anyone to climb a stockpile or walk a worksite.
Cut/fill measurements: On a construction site, it is very important to track how much dirt is moved in order to balance the material onsite. Drone modeling makes it possible to easily calculate cut and fill.
Monitoring progress: Drone modeling allows visualization of a project at every stage, from construction commencement to present day. Real time progress is tracked to monitor the level of work completed in comparison to established deadlines. This information is critical for management and for the delivery to potential stockholders.
** Drone modeling should not be used in lieu of a professional survey completed by a licensed surveyor
Drone flights may take as little as 30 minutes, making the start-to-finish cost of a drone flight significantly more cost effective than traditional methods.
We are able to create a model of a house or larger property that can then be embedded into your social media platform or website that will allow any perspective buyer to view the property in a 360-degree fashion with a swipe of their finger or mouse.
One of the questions we get asked by Realtors is why would someone need drone imagery of a property when they have GIS or Google Earth images. Below are three image comparisons of a 60+ acre property imaged (Left side of each), compared to Google Earth (right side). Besides the drone images being more current than any satellite rendered image, the level of detail available with drone orthomosaic imagery is unmatched. As you can see in the second set of images the house detail available is quite noticeable, as well as the google image being maxed out in ability to zoom in. The third set of images demonstrates the how much closer the drone image can be zoomed and still maintain clean resolution.
